Galaxy and mass assembly (GAMA): the clustering of galaxy groups

چکیده
ABSTRACT We explore the clustering of galaxy groups in Galaxy and Mass Assembly (GAMA) survey to investigate dependence group bias profile on separation scale mass. Due inherent uncertainty estimating selection function, hence autocorrelation we instead measure projected galaxy–group cross-correlation function. find that has a strong mass scales $r_\bot \lesssim 1 h^{-1}$. also evidence most massive live extended, overdense, structures. In first application marked statistics groups, group-mass peaks comparable typical radius r⊥ ≈ 0.5 h−1. While galaxies are associated with show no indication segregation within groups. similar results from IllustrisTNG simulations L-Galaxies model, although shows an enhanced small scales.

Galaxy And Mass Assembly (GAMA)
The GAMA survey aims to deliver 250,000 optical spectra (3–7Å resolution) over 250 sq. degrees to spectroscopic limits of rAB < 19.8 and KAB < 17.0 mag. Complementary imaging will be provided by GALEX, VST, UKIRT, VISTA, HERSCHEL and ASKAP to comparable flux levels leading to a definitive multi-wavelength galaxy database. The data will be used to study all aspects of cosmic structures on 1kpc t...
متن کاملThe 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey: the clustering of galaxy groups
We measure the clustering of galaxy groups in the 2dFGRS Percolation-Inferred Galaxy Group (2PIGG) catalogue. The 2PIGG sample has 28 877 groups with at least two members. The clustering amplitude of the full 2PIGG catalogue is weaker than that of 2dFGRS galaxies, in agreement with theoretical predictions. We have subdivided the 2PIGG catalogue into samples that span a factor of ≈ 25 in median ...
متن کاملThe influence of halo assembly on galaxies and galaxy groups
We study the variations of group galaxy properties according to their assembly history in groups identified in the SDSS-DR6 (hereafter SDSS) catalogue. Using mock SDSS group catalogues, we find that the isolation and concentration of a galaxy group are good observational discriminators of group assembly. However, analysing the mean spectral type of SDSS groups as a function of concentration and...
متن کاملCosmological Constraints from Galaxy Clustering and the Mass-to-number Ratio of Galaxy Clusters
We place constraints on the average density (Ω m ) and clustering amplitude (8) of matter using a combination of two measurements from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey: the galaxy two-point correlation function, wp (rp ), and the mass-to-galaxy-number ratio within galaxy clusters, M/N, analogous to cluster M/L ratios. Our wp (rp ) measurements are obtained from DR7 while the sample of clusters is ...
متن کاملThe Clustering of Galaxy Groups: Dependence on Mass and Other Properties
We investigate the clustering of galaxy groups and clusters in the SDSS using the Berlind et al. (2006) group sample, which is designed to identify galaxy systems that each occupy a single dark matter halo. We estimate group masses from their abundances, and measure their relative large-scale bias as a function of mass. Our measurements are in agreement with the theoretical halo bias function, ...
